Turford House

Turford House is a spacious, beautifully restored and renovated 3 bedroom luxury Georgian House within walking distance of the historical town of Ludlow. The town offers a large selection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is plenty for guests to see and explore including Ludlow Castle, a magnificent medieval castle overlooking the river Teme.

The Shropshire countryside offers a good amount of great walking routes, taking in the views of the stunning countryside surrounding Ludlow. Turford House is a 17th Century Grade II listed Georgian House, named after Edward and his son James Turford, master glove makers who rebuilt the House in the 1600’s following the civil war.

This charming semi-detached house can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests and is located in the heart of Lower Corve Street just a short walk away from the main shops, restaurants, pubs, medieval castle, market and church. The house is set over 3 levels, and its original oak floors and beams have been uncovered and professionally restored by master craftsmen, lending a great sense of history and quality to the property. In addition, all internal ledged and brace doors have been hand made from solid oak.

We came to Ludlow for the 10k race. Everything was amazing ! It was a lovely start meeting Paul at the house and learning all about the history and renovations. Many times travelling it takes time to learn about the house, so nice learning everything from the start. A very nice personal touch. The house itself is just perfect. We loved all the character and special touches (our daughter loved the bath tub !)

Ludlow is a very welcoming and enjoyable place to visit. Now we have seen everything Ludlow.

A lovely 17th Century period house with everything you need and more for a comfortable stay near to the town located in a quiet street. The beds are very comfortable and the sofa is super comfy to relax on after a hard day of walking. The house is steeped in history and Paul gave us a very interesting overview of the house and its restoration. Highly recommended.

A beautiful house, beautifully restored and furnished. So well-positioned in terms of accessing the town – just a short walk up the hill. Paul met us for check-in and gave an interesting potted history of the house. He was friendly, informative, happy to help and very willing to be contacted if the need arose during our stay. Everything about Turford House was absolutely ‘top notch’. It was very warm and cosy and the sitting room furniture was very comfortable as were the beds. Both bathrooms were well-equipped with toiletries and fluffy white towels. The kitchen was well- resourced and everything easy to use. The fact that parking – both off-street and on-street – is available was such a bonus. It really was a privilege to stay in a house with such an interesting past and a host who readily communicated with us before our stay, made us feel very welcome on arrival and was available but not intrusive. An excellent stay – highly recommended. We would love to return. Thank you!
